Rooms

  Individual works of the series are inspired by scenes from real life (they are created on the basis of photographic snapshots) and include personal stories. Characters in the pictures are my close relatives and friends, and they are captured in various typical life situations. Every situation depicts and symbolizes some of the circles of life that we deal with in the course of life - our body, relationships, position, family, education, anchoring, conflicts. A large part of the series is focused on women, on their personal feelings and problems, in a wider context it reflects their position in the family and in society.

  Figures engaged in ordinary activities such as personal hygiene, food preparation, child care, or simply pausing to reflect, evoke basic human physical and mental needs that concern each of us and that we experience on a daily basis, and whose urgency or problematicity increases isolation. The depiction of the characters is a reflection of inner loneliness, closedness to the ever-repeating cycle of everyday life and experienced patterns of life.

  Closed spaces without their own light source are connected to the outside environment through windows that occupy a significant part of the background. This puts the figures in the backlight and creates contrasting silhouettes. Light penetrates the interiors and gently illuminates objects, clothes and hair, but does not show us the expressions on people's faces. Their feelings remain hidden behind the mask of a silhouette. This anonymity offers the viewer the opportunity to identify with the character, immerse himself in his head and put his own emotions or thoughts into it. The confrontation and interaction of the events in the interior with the external environment outside the window suggests other connections.
